Happy New Year!
I am back in school this morning, teaching and also having chapel. It is a blessing to see my students, chatty and excited after being on vacation for almost 2 weeks, get quiet for a moment of prayer. The boys, who were minutes ago told to be quiet and pay attention, get down on their knees, every one of them, heads bowed, when it’s time to pray. And I have the thought that these young men who may be future Christian leaders, are learning how to lead on their knees. They are learning that knowing God is the important thing, more important than memorizing facts and learning theories (as important as that can be).
This is a powerful reminder for me, too. As the new year starts, may I keep my priorities straight. Relationship with God first, everything else second. What I know is less important than what I do, and what I do is less important than who I am in relationship with Him.
May my thoughts and actions flow from that relationship out into the world to touch others with His love in a real and lasting way.
